Wasafiri welcomes original, quality contributions from poets, fiction writers, academics and critics from all cultural backgrounds. Submitted work is peer-reviewed by writers, critics and academics, ensuring Wasafiri’s long reputation for forging new perspectives and publishing the best in contemporary writing today.

General Guidelines (please also refer to individual genre guidelines below before making your submissions and the Wasafiri Stylesheet).

Maximum Word Length

Articles/Essays/Fiction/Interviews  5000 – 6000 words
Reviews of one title 800 – 1000 words
Reviews of two titles 1,000 – 1,200 words
Review Essays 2,500 – 3,000 words
Poems 5 poems max

Wasafiri is a peer reviewed journal and listed in the Thompson Reuters Arts & Humanities Citation Index. We welcome quality articles, essays and journalistic prose on a wide spectrum of literary and cultural subjects from around the world.
